I think that Slater needs no introduction, so here's the interview:

Slater (Tribal Vision Records) to me

here we go! Wink

1. Please introduce to ourself, tell us who you are, something about the past, how did you get into this music?
My name is Michal Smetana and I am label manager and representative DJ of Czech progressive label Tribal Vision Records. I started to listen electronic music and going to parties around 1998. Very soon I got a feeling I would like to take a more active part on the scene, bought turntables together with two more friends and started with DJing. Around 2001 I founded a promoter group "Tribal Vision" and 3 years later we expanded into a record label.

2. Tribal Vision, really one of the best labels today, what indeed you think of it, are you satisfied with the work?
Well, it makes me happy just to hear this Its impossible to say if I am satisfied with the work, but I am definitely satisfied with the result.

3. You opened a sub-label, called beef records, its an electro based label, today electro and progressive go together, indeed beef is more minimal then progressive, but what did made you to expand?
Although Tribal Vision itself is very electro influenced too, Beef records is focusing on a different kind of music and scene - as you said, more minimal direction. The main aim was to try something a bit difffent then, still with the music we love though.

4. Do you travel much? Are you booked only on trance/progressive ggs, or also different partys, and what can we find in your set?
Yes, I travel pretty much. Most of my bookings are coming from the trance scene but recently there are some from house area as well. My sets are usually a mixture between some pumping progressive house, electro and trance. You can visit my website to download some of my live recordings: http://djslater.net/download.php?PHPSESSID=aef19d13e781d3e5bd24c7e73ce6c2fd

5. You came to Macedonia on the fest in Veles whats the picture u got?
Wonderful nature and really friendly people, thats my main impression. Hope to come back again.

6. What do you think of the progressive scene globally?
Progressive has always been about getting influences from different genres, nowadays its electro as a main source. It will be interesting to see what path it will follow afterwards....
In any case, there is a lot of material I can work with and still there are many fresh ideas on the scene.

7. What should we see and expect in the future from tribal vision?
There is quite a lot of releases planned for the next months; besides Fitalic and Roman Raiīs CDs and 12"s, there will be a new compilation coming out in December. New Vibrasphere and Tegma albums are planned for 2007...

8. Tell us something about your country, the people, (the girls are awesome Smile) and the music ofcourse?
You forgot to mention beer ) Musically the Czech (psy)trance scene is still pretty small, with kind of family-feeling events. In general the dominating genres are techno and drumīnībass...

9. If you wanna ask us any question, here is the place.
Hmmm....anybody interested in our label party in Macedonia? )

10. Give us your top ten.
1.) Fitalic - Atomic Atmosphere (Thomas Penton remix) /Tribal Vision/
2.) Brisker & Magitman - Single Shot /Tribal Vision unr./
3.) D-Nox & Beckers - One Shot (Kosmas Epsilon remix) /Slikt/

as a Person, i think Slater is one of the best DJs that i ever listened, his roots of music are very interesting, he even used to play dark, then kinda switched to Morning (Carmelit Subway, legendary set) and now progie and chill, i love his unique technique how he mixes, its just amazing, i dont like the fact that he's leaving the "psychedelic" side in personal mixes but i still like the progihouse stuff that he plays

for the label, respect, one of the best labels latly, i think its really hard to get the best progie artists on a label, but Slater told us with Tribal Vision that its possible, compliments for slater and compliments for tribal vision, i didnt miss any release or any set of them, and i doubt that i ever will

ps, boshko, great interview mate
